FIGURE 1 Multiple regression path model considering age, extraction ratio, cardiac index (QT/m2),hemoglobin (Hgb), and PaO2 on exercise to predict V ˙ o 2 ml/kg/min and tolerance of resection. The values above the arrows are standardized partial regression (β) coefficients which indicate change in the outcome variable ( V ˙ o 2 and tolerance) in standard deviation units. The change noted in a predictor is controlled for the effects of other predictors in the equation. The curved lines indicate a correlation between pairs of predictors (full correlation matrix available upon request).
