1 Resume Notes and Assignment

2 Resumes Resumes develop a first impression.
Resumes summarize skills, education, experience and abilities. Resumes are NOT an autobiography, telling your whole life story on a piece of paper. They are a summary of your life and qualifications.

3 Parts of a Resume Heading Identification
Name, address, phone number and address Objective or Summary Statement Career objective or summary of employment desired Education Name of school, type of degree or diploma, year of graduation as well as majors and minors

4 Parts of a Resume Continued

Skills Things you can do that makes you special—using the computer, speaking a foreign language, etc. Activities / Awards / Interests Clubs, organizations, volunteer experience, sports things that show school/community involvement and leadership skills.

5 Other Information There is not one “right way” to write a RESUME — everyone is unique. Proofread your resume very carefully for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. You do not want ANY mistakes in your resume. Have someone review your resume for mistakes. Get feedback from other people. Make sure that your resume looks good, is easy to understand, and says what you want it to say! Resume is the marketing tool to get you an interview!

8 Format Continued Skills (computer skills, language skills, etc.)
