OMK is administered through the Ohio 4-H Program, part of Ohio State University Extension.
OMK partners closely with the Ohio National Guard Family Readiness & Warrior Support Program.

4. Why 4-H Partners with the Military
Partnership of two federal agencies (USDA & DoD) makes effective use of resources.
Youth from National Guard and Reserve families live in all of our communities.
Providing support for military youth is consistent with the National 4-H Strategic plan to reach previously underserved audiences.
4-H and the Army have a history of formal partnership since 1995.
Air Force (1999), Navy (2007).

5. National OMK Objectives
Raise community understanding about how the deployment of a family member affects military youth through awareness building and educational trainings.
Build community capacity & create local support networks.
Implement educational programs through local support networks.
