The story started with the arrival of the Pilgrims from Britain in 1620

The Pilgrims had difficulties in the new area
The Pilgrims had difficulties in the new area. The Indians taught them to grow vegetables, hunt, build houses.

When after some years the Pilgrims got their first harvest they decided to have a big feast to thank God for the food. The Indians were invited. The day was called Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the last Thursday in November
Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the last Thursday in November. There are parades on the streets in the USA.

The families get together
The families get together. First the family say prayers for all they have. Then they eat special food: roast turkey, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, beans, corn.

The main symbol of Thanksgiving Day is a turkey

Another symbol of this holiday is a pumpkin

The Cornucopia is the symbol of the holiday .
