We Graph with Our Gator TAILS!
2
G GRAPH TYPES Did you select the correct type of graph to represent your data/data table? There are four types of graphs. Circle/Pie- 360° - adding degrees of all of the wedges must equal 100%. Bar- used to compare similar items. Line- Line graphs are used to display data that show how one variable (the responding variable) changes in response to another variable (the manipulated variable). You should use a line graph when your manipulated variable is continuous (usually time and distance). Pictographs-use pictures of objects to show quantities.
3
T TITLE Does your graph have an APPROPRIATE title that asks a question or makes a statement (for example: What is the distance of the bowling ball over time? or simply Distance of a Bowling Ball Over Time A AXIS (X & Y) X-axis: manipulated variable (independent variable) or what you chose. X-axis horizontal like a Genie (hands crossing down). Y-axis: responding variable (dependent variable) or what you measured. YMCA-because I am a corndog (a corndog is straight up and down).

I INTEGERS/NUMBERS Are each of the lines numbered correctly and consistently? L LABEL HEADINGS/UNITS Is your graph correctly labeled and includes all HEADINGS and UNITS when necessary (for example: m/g/N/J)? S SIGHT-what does it look like? Is the scale appropriate? Is the width of each column (bar graph only) the same? Does the graph maximize the use of the page? Is the graph visually appealing? Did you use a straight edge (ruler) to make your lines? Does your graph require a key or legend? example: Does your graph accurately represent your data?
