2 independent clauses joined by a FANBOYS or a semicolon
For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So
Examples:

3. I miss summer vacation; it gave me time to sleep, read, and relax.

4. Complex Sentences 1 independent clause and 1 or more dependent clauses
A dependent clause is a group of words with a subject and a verb that cannot stand alone (incomplete thought)
Examples:
After the players practiced, they went out for pizza.
The players went out for pizza after they practiced.
Because I did not study, I failed the quiz.

5. Compound Complex Sentences
2 or more independent clauses and at least 1 dependent clause
Examples:
Before the trick-or-treaters came, Megan made candied apples; they were delicious.
Tyler had a headache, so Paul cleaned up the house after the party was over.
Jennifer calls Chris whenever she feels sad; he cheers her up.
