Program Performance Benchmarks & DUI Integrated GIS Map Sheldon Zhang, Ph.D. Department of Sociology

2 Main Tasks Conduct a statewide survey of DUI program on client data collection and management needs (completed) Establish statewide and county-level DUI program performance benchmarks (finalizing) Provide ad hoc technical support to State Oversight Agency (GIS test site)

3 DUI Program Benchmarks
Data download, cleaning, merging, and analysis Tables produced Need to explore best ways to disseminate information regarding benchmarks Main challenge: individual DUI program provider needs to compare their own performance against county-level and statewide figures

4 DUI Program Measures Limited range of variables due to rudimentary reporting requirements Benchmarks: Enrollment Termination Transfers GR clients (waived/reduced) Exit status is calculated based on the proportion of a specific exit reason relative to the total possible outcomes.

5 Shared Desire to Learn from Others
All DUI program managers want to know their own stats and those of others in the county and statewide (and definitely their potential competitors) All managers welcome opportunities to compare notes with other DUI program providers Routinize program data collection as part of DUI program quality control mechanism.

20 Moving Forward County oversight agency is best suited to compile and disseminate county-level data Specific plans are needed to develop and adopt common data elements. Without common data elements, comparison is impossible. Without comparison, we can’t identify best practices. Large providers (those with multiple sites) should lead the movement to test logistics, procedures, and other technical issues…or CADTP?
