(A) H2-loaded eye drops were prepared by bubbling H2 gas (solid thick line, flow rate: 1 L/min) through 400 mL of normal saline solution. After the bubbling was stopped, the H2 concentration was gradually decreased by stirring and reached <1% within 90 minutes. (B) H2-loaded eye drops were stored in an aluminum foil bag and administered to the ocular surface with a dropper. Scale bar, 4 cm. The concentrations of H2 on the ocular surface (C) and in the vitreous body (D) were monitored with a needle-type H2 sensor. Solid thick line: application times of H2-loaded eye drops (4 mL/min). (E) Summary data showing H2 concentration on the ocular surface (OS; n = 3) and in the vitreous body (VB; n = 3). Data represent the mean ± SD.
