5 Expansion Through Innovation & Partnership
Aztec Proud was up and running but there was a great need to take donations electronically due to volume and efficiency. Student ID swipe was implemented. (Red ID) Todd, I thought you could speak to this topic. I will transition you from the ‘Initial Framework’ slides into ‘Expansion Through Innovation’.

6 Expansion Through Innovation & Partnership Continued
SDSU Bookstore generously offered resources to electronically take donations Equipment incl. laptops/scanners were purchased Programming was set up w/Aztec Proud team Admissions & Records allowed access to student donor information Todd, I thought while you’re presenting this slide you have the opportunity to discuss with the group why you all decided to be so generous and partner with us. Aztec Proud and student philanthropy was a priority of the university and the President. It was mutually beneficial for both parties and partnerships on campus inspires forward movement. It also allows you to talk about your programming team, Jahan and others.

7 Student Philanthropy….A Defining Moment!
Conversation to bring Aztec Proud to the next level now that the initial framework was in place. Students responded not only to the notion of giving back, but to the ease of giving through Student ID swipe. We had learned with my freshman class that the caliber of student attending SDSU was changing. Students were coming to SDSU with a philanthropic background. J. Cole, Now that we have established Aztec Proud and Todd has talked about the innovation, I thought it would be great if you could speak to students giving back. First and foremost, I am hoping you can speak to the ‘Defining Moment’ I refer to in the slide above when you and Todd decided to come talk to me about doing this at the next level. Once it was easy for them to give back and once we asked them to do it, it happened. Specifically, you can touch on how your freshman class set the tone for giving and it was noticeable that the caliber of student attending SDSU was changing. Secondly. Students came to SDSU as givers, they had participated in HS fundraisers, were heavily involved in non-profits and community service driven. If we didn’t ask them to give to SDSU, they would give somewhere else.

8 Class Legacy Giving Inspired
Student ID swipe was working & students were giving. Time to ask the Class of 2015 to leave their legacy at SDSU. January 2015, Class of 2015 Legacy Scholarship program was created. Graduating students were asked to donate $10. Received a donor commencement cord to wear during the ceremony. Over 1,600 students donated, SDSU Bookstore matching gift of $10K. $26,000 raised! J. Cole. Here are the bullet points I thought you would like and could speak to based on your student status at the time and your leadership position.
