What is a sasquatch ? Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch) is the name given to a cryptic simian-, ape-, or hominid-like creature that is said to inhabit forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. Wild men stories are found among the indigenous population of the Pacific Northwest. The legends existed before a single name for the creature.[15] They differed in their details both regionally and between families in the same community. Similar stories of wild men are found on every continent except Antarctica.[15] Ecologist Robert Michael Pyle argues that most cultures have human-like giants in their folk history: "We have this need for some larger-than-life creature."[16]

yowie Yowie is one of several names given to a mythical hominoid reputed to live in the Australian wilderness. The yowie is described to be a crioptid which resembles the Himalayan Yeti and the North American Sasquatch. In the 1870s, accounts of 'Indigenous Apes' appeared in the Australian Town and Country Journal. The earliest account in November 1876 asked readers; "Who has not heard, from the earliest settlement of the colony, the blacks speaking of some unearthly animal or inhuman creature ... namely the Yahoo-Devil Devil, or hairy man of the wood ..."] In an article entitled "Australian Apes" appearing six years later, amateur naturalist Henry James McCooey claimed to have seen an "indigenous ape" on the south coast of Ne

yeti The name "Abominable Snowman" was coined in 1921, the same year In a book, Howard-Bury includes an account of crossing at 21,000 ft (6,400 m) where he found footprints that he believed "were probably caused by a large 'loping' grey wolf, which in the soft snow formed double tracks rather like a those of a bare-footed man". He adds that his Sherpa guides "at once volunteered that the tracks must be that of 'The Wild Man of the Snows', to which they gave the name"t ranslates as "man-bear" and "Kang-mi" translates as "snowman

How did bigfoot start ? it wasn’t until 1958 that the Bigfoot legend really started to kick off in the United States. That year, a man named Gerald Crew found a set of large footprints at a construction site where he worked in California. He had his friend make plaster casts of the prints. The story gained a lot of attention after being published in the Humboldt Times, and was picked up by the Associated Press, drawing international attention. However, a number of factors lead to skeptics believing it’s a hoax: people who knew gerald have described him, frankly, as a liar; gerald’s version of events—including an estimate of how tall “Bigfoot” was— also changed and escalated over time. More to the point, a man named Bob Heironimus claimed to have worn the Bigfoot costume. Most likely, and not too surprisingly, it was was a hoax.

Where is bigfoot ? Bigfoot has been sighted thoughout North America, mainly in the United States and Canada. About a third of all sightings have been in the Pacific Northwest in the states of Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and British Columbia, Canada. It is said that its relatives can be found around the world with such names as the Yeti, the Yeren, the Almas, the Yowie and many more. Nest type structures have been found throughout many areas. These nests often consist of sticks and branches with a soft lining of moss. It is thought that these structure could have been built by Bigfoot as a place to sleep or rest.
