Reading Fluency Reading quickly, accurately, and with expression
Fluent readers think less about individual words and more about the meaning of the sentences they read. Miscues interrupt fluency.

Types of Miscues Mistakes “Fix-up” Strategies
does not attend to affixes mispronounces words/letter sounds omits words repeats words, phrases or sentences reverses words/letter sounds does not maintain syntactic integrity (does not make sense) does not recognize linking verbs “chunks” unknown words self-corrects inserts words (but the sentence meaning is not changed) substitutes words while maintaining comprehension (i.e. Ebonics, abbreviations for long names, etc.)
