Import Cron and Windows Task Scheduler definitions

You can use this procedure to import Cron or Windows Task Scheduler jobs into an IBM Workload Scheduler distributed environment that has a dynamic agent, by using the Dynamic Workload Console. Before starting to import, ensure that you have generated your Cron or Windows Task Scheduler files. Run the command crontab -l, on the machine where you created your Cron definitions, to display and save them in a file. Export your Windows Task Scheduler definitions from the Windows Task Scheduler panel and save it as an xml file. Use a zip file to import more than one xml file. You can now import your Cron or Windows Task Scheduler files into IBM Workload Scheduler.

Select Administration and then Import Definitions.

Select the Engine from the list. For example, Italy.
Click Browse to search your files.

Select the definitions file that you want to import. You can import Cron or Windows Task Scheduler file. Use a zip file to import more than one xml file.

Select cron definitions file and click Upload.

Specify the user that runs the command.
Select the time zone for when the Cron or Windows Task Scheduler files were originally defined. Optionally, check the flag to use the time zone of the selected workstation on which you want your definition to run. Specify the prefix to use in the generated job stream and jobs. For example, DEMO. Specify the user that runs the command. Check to not import the rule. Click to import Cron or Windows Task Scheduler file.

Click to open the job stream in the Workload Designer.

Suffixes are added to the objects name:
_JS for Job Stream _JD for Job Definition _JB for Job Cron definition

In the Run Cycle Properties Panel you can see the date and time imported with the definition

Select WTS xml file or WTS.zip and click Upload.

Click to verify the existence of the user specified in the Windows Task Scheduler definition.
