What is Tourism? Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for more than twenty-four hours.”

Tourism in South Africa
South Africa is a major tourist destination in not only Africa but the entire world. Tourism's contribution to South Africa's gross domestic product (GDP) rose from 2.7% to 7.9% in the period.

Why come to South Africa? South Africa's scenic beauty, magnificent outdoors, moderate climate, cultural diversity and reputation for delivering value for money have made it one of the world's fastest growing tourist destinations. V&A Waterfront is the most visited destination in South Africa which sold for R7.4-billion in 2006 (later sold in 2011 for an undisclosed price after being re-developed)

Spend three times more then Leisure Travellers Well over 1000 world-class conference venues business tourists in 2006 spending R2.4-billion just over R5100 per person. 31st place in the International Congress and Convention Association's leading destinations in 2007 Business tourism moderates the high/lows of other tourism

City Tourism CTICC and Cape Town tourism are mutually beneficial to each other. The fact we can host huge conferences benefits the local tourist attractions in the vicinity of Cape Town. For example, Table Mountain, Boat Rides from V&A It also works the other way, because we have these attractions more business tourists will come to conferences in Cape Town
