2 The Tree This is one of the most dismal places on the whole campus along with the stairs. Here Gene discovers many thing about himself and about the fact the he is now Finny.

3 Popular songs of the 40s Some of the popular songs in the 40s were:

4 The Draft. In 1942 the draft age had been lowered to 18. This is very significant in the story because all of the boys were now forced to prepare themselves for the most challenging experience of their life.

5 Fashion in the 40s They sported exaggerated shoulder pads
They also wore uniforms basically all the time They did not where any wool. Another popular trend was single breasted jackets and cuff-and-pleat free pants.

6 The stair way The stair way
Here is where finny took his last fall and this final event signified that he was broken for good. This is also the location that finny found out about Gene’s actions on the tree.

7 WWII This war is probably the most life changing event in the characters life this event changed when they went to class and how they spent there resources. This also limited food and cloth distribution.

Velcro was also made in the 40s The slinky was one of the best toys of that age and is still used by kids every where.

13 Propaganda Propaganda in the 90’s continually put down the enemy and tried to raise American moral. They also were a way to strike fear into our enemies harts.

14 Propaganda(cont) Propaganda was also a very good way for the military to raise money for the army, air force, and marines.

Seeing as jazz was big back then Cab Calloway was a very big influence to the times. There is also Bing Crosby this man paved the way to our music today.
