3 Background OSH in AT Mid -19th century first legislative provisions were created 1883 the Trades Inspectorate was established as a supervisory authority Same time, occupational health surveillance and safety technologies developed As well social insurance system for prevention tratment and rehabilitation 1995 joining the EU further development of new concepts and many regulations

Employee Protection Act – ASchG issued by the Federal Minister for Employment and Social service This starts already during planning phase of a building Which laws and NORM‘s Is the obligation to provide information of safety risks and health protection as well as of risk prevention measures How to use Which PPE is needed What kind of damages could and what the measures Arises also where work is performed by employees of third-party undertakings or by hired-out workers (temporary agency work). 5 Traning Requirements PROVISION OF INSTRUCTIONS
Always provided before they start their position/role Transferred or the range of tasks changes When work procedures are introduced or modified Accidents or incidents nearly resulting in an accident Instructions must be repeated in regular intervals where necessary Annually E-Learning The following rules apply to instructions in every case Must be provided during working time There must be evidence of providing instructions (records must be kept, e.g. minutes of the instruction session along with a list of participants) Instructions may be provided by employers if they have the necessary knowledge, or by qualified workers or qualified persons from other organisations. Must be adapted to the workers’ level of experience and be provided in a form they understand.
