The Grabber Otherwise known as the hook or the lead
“grabs” the attention of the reader It is a broad, general statement that can still be applied today. Can be in the form of a question Ex: There are some people who should not be given power. The Grabber

The Bridge Connects what you said in your grabber to your topic
It’s the sentence where you begin to introduce your topic. Ex: In the 1930s, Adolf Hitler became the dictator of Germany and was responsible for the deaths of millions. The Bridge

These sentences (three) will preview what is to come in your paper
Although you will most likely have more than three paragraphs in your final paper, you will only have three sentences in your roadmap because you are previewing the THREE areas that you will be discussing in your paper: Biographical Sketch Historical Foundation Lasting Impact EX: Adolf Hitler always had conflicts with authority figures.
