Aims of the syllabus The syllabus is intended to encourage candidates to: To provide through well-designed studies of experimental and theoretical science to all students, whether or not they will go on study science beyond this level; To develop skills, relevant to study and practise science; To stimulate students and create sustained interest in Physics in them; To stimulate an interest to the impact of the Physics to the environment; To promote an awareness that all the physical theories should be checked experimentally

Assessment at a glance Paper Weighing
Paper 1 (Based on Core topics) minutes 40 Multiple choice questions 30% Paper 3 (Based on extended topics) hour 15 min Several structured questions 50% Paper 3 (Based on Core and Extended topics) 1h15min Two experimental tasks 20%

Assessment objectives
Each of the assessment objectives has different weight in the final mark: AO1: Knowledge with understanding – 50% (papers 1 and 3) AO2: Handling information and solving problems; - 30% (papers 1 and 3) AO3: experimental skills and investigations; - 20% (paper 5)
