Review the outline format. Answer any questions you have about the format. Remember, except for the quotations, claims, and counter claims, outline should be phrases and words – not complete sentences. To cite a quotation from an article use Reich or Rotherham based on your claim: Embed: It makes sense that “It’s time to give up the idea that every young person has to go to college…” (Reich 85). Non-embed: “It’s time to give up the idea that every young person has to go to college…” (Reich 85). Work time to fill in the outline on your own.

Strategize – to plan the actions one will take to complete a task. Inference – conclusion about ideas not directly stated. Transcript – written copy or record of a conversation between two or more people. Claim – thesis statement describing the position the writer is taking on an issue.
