1. CRAB Server CRAB (CMS Remote Analysis Builder)
- a Python program intended to simplify the process of creation & submisson of CMS analysis jobs to grid
CRAB standalone model: direct submission from UI via WMS
- simple, but lacks some important features, suitable for small tasks
Client-Server architecture :  CRABServer
- automating as much as possible the whole analysis workflow and improving the scalability of the system
- transparent to end users: interface, installation, configuration procedure and usage the same as in standalone mode
Goal - 1 CRABServer per region
Currently for general CMS usage : 2 servers in Italy used in alternance (bari,lnl2)

2. CRAB Server 2 Software: - gLite User Interface
- Proxy Delegation Service
- Dedicated storage: - use already existing SE
- or install gridFTP
- MySQL DB
Server Components:
AdminControl, CommandManager, Notification,
CrabServerWorker, HTTPFrontend,
JobTracking, JobKiller, GetOutput, ErrorHandler,
TaskLifeManager, TaskRegister, TaskTracking

3. CrabServer @ CCIN2P3 Sept 19, 2008
Installation:
- Started with release 1_0_2a (2c) (July), curently installed 1_0_3 (available 1_0_4_preX ) - bug corrections, improvements on the way ….
- ‘Cohabitation’ problems with VOBox (conflicts with release versions
for some common packages )
- Volunteer sites for installation:
IN2P3, RWTH (Aachen), UCSD, IFCA, IC London
- end of August operational only at IN2P3
CRABServer monitoring
 useful excercise also for the developers (documentation improvement, installation scripts bugs corrections)
intensive tests in ‘real life’ ( Nicola de Fillipis submiting thousands of jobs)
 ready to be used by the whole ‘region’ (although installed on the provisional node ccgridli02.in2p3.fr)

Installation:
curently installed 1_0_5
 operational at IN2P3
….. But the node itself (ccgridli03) is going to be replaced by the new hardware
available 1_0_6
To be released 1_0_7 …. bug corrections, improvements on the way ….
… waiting with upgrade after the new harware installed …
CRABServer monitoring
We had NO node crashes (as before…)
 not so much intensive tests
 …. because of Christmas and New Year holidays ?
