2 Falling Objects Freely falling objects undergo constant acceleration
Free fall – motion of an object falling with a constant acceleration Free fall  g (acceleration due to gravity)  has magnitude and direction

3 Falling Objects a = -g = m/s2 = acceleration down due to gravity What goes up, must come down If any object is thrown up into the air, the acceleration is always -9.81m/s2 Always have same acceleration down Magnitude and direction of velocity are changing

4 Falling Objects Displacement in the vertical direction (up and down) = Δy Replace “a” with “g”
