Challenge: International Accreditation of new Programmes at ACEs Suggested Solutions: (top 1-2 practical solutions ) ACEs within Health cluster need to collectively seek one international accreditation body for all their new programmes- ( i.e. look elsewhere outside Africa) Foster deliberate networks to identify a body for international accreditation

ACE Host University Related Challenges
List Top 2 – 3 Challenges Expectations of government organs in as far as ACE and its objectives are concerned Delays related to meeting effectiveness conditions Hosting international students/faculty at ACE/Host University (i.e. most universities hosting ACEs do not have specific housing facilities designed to host graduate students/ visiting foreign faculty)

Challenge: Expectations of government organs in as far as ACE and its objectives are concerned Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) ACEs should be proactive and provide information to government organs to understand the objectives of ACEs Lobby relevant government organs to continuously support ACEs

National Government Related Challenges
List Top 2 – 3 Challenges Approval of ACEs by Governments ACEs may not be able to provide accountability to government/World Bank Delays in releasing project funds by government to ACEs/host universities

Challenge: Approval of ACEs by Governments Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) Engage government organs to understand the objectives of ACEs as outlined in Project Development Objective (PDO) Lobby relevant government organs to approve ACEs and meet effectiveness conditions and continue to support implementation of ACEs,

Challenges with Building Partnerships
List Top 2 – 3 Challenges: Reluctance of international partners to participate in ACE’s activities due to uncertainty. (e.g. security fears -- life & property) Lack of commitment by partners especially from regional partners. Total dependence on the host ACE. Weak linkage or partnership with industry/private sector. View ACEs as mostly academic.

Challenges with Building Partnerships
Challenge: Reluctance of international partners to participate in ACE’s activities due to uncertainty (e.g. security fears -- life & property) Suggested Solutions (top 1-2 practical solutions ) Provide partnership incentives for faculty to come the ACEs Provide financial incentives and security as well as institutional stability that facilitate partnerships (e.g. VCs sign partnership MoUs).
