1
Electromagnetic Spectrum
What are the parts of the EM spectrum and how do wavelength, frequency, and energy correspond?
2
Electromagnetic Radiation
A form of energy that exhibits wavelike behavior as it travels through space Different forms of electromagnetic radiation can be seen on the electromagnetic spectrum
3
Electromagnetic Spectrum
Encompasses all forms of electromagnetic radiation, showing the differences of wavelength and frequency in the types of radiation. Organized from: Low energy High Energy Low Frequency High Frequency Long Wavelength Short Wavelength

5
Positively charged nucleus
Electrons and Light Quantum energy levels Positively charged nucleus What charge is an electron? Would it want to be closer to the nucleus or further from the nucleus? Where would the electron have less energy?
6
How are electrons involved?
Electron in ground state Energy is absorbed Electron in excited state Can move to any higher energy level Energy released as light Electron moves to ground state What is meant by ground state and excited state? If electrons release light when they move back to ground state, how are different colors produced?
7
How to draw a Bohr model Draw the nucleus. Write in number of protons and neutrons. Draw 1st energy level. Place electrons by rules below. Fill energy level before moving to the next energy level. Draw the electrons in pairs. Electrons in energy level according to rule 2n2 where n is the energy level.

Lewis Structures Drawn using only valence electrons
Electrons found in the outermost energy shell Write the symbol of the element Draw dots around the symbol to represent the valence electrons One dot on each side before doubling up
