Present the timeline for the project phases – What’s happening now? What happens next? Provide an opportunity to chat with the experts and/or have a hands-on test drive!

6 Overview – Vision Statement
The State of Alaska will establish a centralized enterprise directory and /Collaboration system based on Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003 or successor products for state employees serving within the Executive Branch. Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) will assume responsibility for the maintenance of the enterprise suite of infrastructure services, but ownership and control of the Active Directory objects within the enterprise will remain under agency discretion. This allows the State of Alaska to benefit from a centralized offering and consolidation, without sacrificing the relationships between agency IT Staff and agency end users.

9 Overview – Key Benefits
A Single and Calendaring System through Outlook 2003 or Outlook Web Access. Tools to increase collaboration internally and between agencies. and Calendaring global address list or departmental address lists to facilitate communication within and between departments. Provide the foundation for the sharing of documents or applications across agencies. Cost saving due to server consolidation. Leverage support and training costs because departments have similar systems. Provides a common technology platform that enables the re-use of resources across the state. Provide a method to evaluate, address, and formalize enterprise wide processes, applications, and exceptions.

Each state employee will have a new address starting June 1, 2007 Example: Display Name: Smith, Richard (DOA) sent to your old address will automatically be delivered to your new box

11 Overview - Migration When Will My Department have the New & Calendaring System? Early Adopters May 15 – June 1st All others between June 1 – July 9, 2007 Each department has designed a migration plan to best suit the business needs of their staff.

13 Overview - Training ETS has completed Outlook training in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, Kenai, Soldotna, Bethel, Nome, Ketchikan, Wasilla & Palmer. Over 200 IT Staff have received training. Over 750 employees have received Outlook Subject Matter Expert (SME) training. Manuals and On-Line Training materials are available on the project website:
