HUD Suspends FHA Mortgage Insurance Premium Cut
The EDGE Information and news that gives you an edge in the real estate business HUD Suspends FHA Mortgage Insurance Premium Cut Last Friday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a letter indicating the suspension of the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA's) annual mortgage insurance premium reduction. NAR, along with the California Association of REALTORS®, both expressed their disappointment in the suspension and its potential impact on homebuyers. Real estate professionals could be experiencing delays for those clients who had planned closings around the January 27 reduction implementation, but many do not appear to be overly worried about the impact of the suspension on their market. However, nationally, 2016 closed on an uptick and became the best year for housing starts since Granted, multifamily homes have been driving the increase in recent years, while single-family starts and building permits are mildly down. Yet there is warranted optimism for new single-family home building in 2017. In the Houston region, for the week ending January 15: • New Listings increased 0.6% to 2,348 • Pending Sales increased 26.5% to 1,646 • Closed Sales decreased 18.0% to 899
