What makes a good leader? In your groups, discuss what qualities you think make a good leader. List the top five qualities you believe would be essential for a lead explorer. Write your answer and be prepared to share

Reading for a Purpose Table Read chapter 16 – “A New Land Is Discovered” As a table discuss and answer the following questions on your paper. What obstacles did Columbus face on his voyage? How did the Taino treat Columbus? Make a list of Columbus’ successes and failures on his first Journey. Be ready to share your responses!

Let's move around!!! Half of the room on one side, half on the other – 30 seconds to move North Side – You are Europe. Write it out on the board. South Side – You are North America. Write it out on the board. Columbian Exchange OK – So now you have exchanged!!! What do you think were the most important items exchanged and why?
