This year PPE results were reported in two different ways to reflect the change in the GCSEs.
English and Maths used grades 9 to 1
All other subjects used A* to G
(BTEC and Vcert remained the same)

So what does this mean?

9. The key thing to remember about English is that it is possible to make huge amounts of progress by developing the skills required to improve the marks on your weakest question.
Example
Paper 2 English Language. A student with a 3 in the PPE notices that they only scored 6 in Section A Question 4. They work on the skills required to improve their response and improve their score to a 12. That one change moves them to a 5

10. With that in mind, we are supporting your children through a 'test and boost' programme that sits alongside their lessons and provides individualised materials targeted at improving specific skills.

11. Maths
The style of exam has changed significantly this year. There is a much greater emphasis on problem solving questions with multiple steps to achieve full marks. Students must develop their problem solving strategies in order to gain success. In addition to this, some of the higher content has moved to the foundation paper, with new topics being introduced at grade 9.

12. Key messages from PPEs It is important that you know:
The result of each PPE is not the most important thing. It is a way of gauging strengths and weaknesses and will allow you and your teachers to pinpoint areas for improvement.
The next step will be to look at your exam paper and identify areas for improvement. Your teacher will help you with that as well as supporting you in your revision planning.
