Rachel Naylor #INWED17 IDT Project Manager A-one+
I left school after my GCSE’s and took on an apprenticeship as a trainee QS. I worked myself up to managing QS level and working on various building and engineering projects of various size. Quantity surveying provided an element of project managing which has always interested me. In my current role I work alongside various teams such as design, commercial, value management, scoping/early involvement teams etc, all of which contain women. I am an IDT project manager and work alongside the design and construction teams co-ordinate client requirements onsite. I have always been interested in building and engineering as I like to see things been built. I also love working with money. I love the fact that one or phone call can alter your entire day. No two days are the same. Its great to work on a scheme from day one and see how it progresses to the end and final account stage. I am proud of many things, its is always good to look back on particularly complex schemes once they have been completed. I have also worked up from a trainee quantity surveyor to managing surveyor which was my role prior to my current one as an IDT project manager. In my spare time I enjoying going to the gym and do Crossfit 4-5 times a weeks. I also enjoy socialising with my family and friends and eating out. I would definitely recommend a career in engineering. I have worked with people of different ages, sex and experiences and enjoy a challenge. #INWED17 A-one+
