Rules If the word ends in a C-V-C pattern,double the consonant, add [-er + than] hot = Hotter big = bigger than ** w,x,y,z do NOT follow the C-V-C rule

Rules Happy = happier happiest
If the two-syllable adjectives ends with –y, change the y to i and add –er for the comparative form. For the superlative form change the y to i and add –est. Happy = happier happiest

IRREGULAR COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES
