Danielle- Leader/Construction Jessica- Data Katy- Technology

2 PBL: What is PBL? Student-centered; not busywork!
Research/problem-solving Meaningful Participation Choices/goals Different subjects

3 Our Burning Question & Our Plan:
The burning question… Materials Who will be in charge of it? What is our location? Weather; Will it be durable? How will we collect our data? Will our data be accurate?

4 Research Kid Wind Project, Parts To Make A Wind Turbine, 2010, 25 Sept 2010, Perles, Carrie, How To Make An Anemometer for Children, 2010, 25 Sept 2010, Stevens Institute of Technology, Lesson #2: Building and Using Weather Instruments, 2005, 25 Sept 2010, weatherproj/Introductory_Activity_Lessons/lesson2building_&_using_weather_instruments.html

5 What We Did: Research Assigned jobs
Contacted consultants (Ethan/Dustin) Planned, met, constructed Location Collected data Updated machine

6 Our Data: I will model how to rethink main ideas from text.
Rationale: I noticed that Ian began to stray from the important, main ideas of the text after he completed the reading. He would talk about things that did not relate to the story or include a lot of secondary information from the text. I think modeling how to rethink main ideas from text will benefit Ian and help him while reading stories. Our Data:

7 In Comparison to www.weather.com

8 Problems & Solutions Yogurt cups Soda caps Taking data Roommate
Milk caps Set alarm Fix machine

9 How This Benefits Us! We learned: About PBL To work as a team
More about wind energy and our machine How to adapt/Continously update Think fast Think critically
