1 Book Review Format A book review is an exercise in analysis (a critical assessment of what the book says, not an exercise in description (simply what the author says).

Introduction: Why have you chosen this book? What do you wish to gain from reading it? Contents: Analyze the major concepts that may be new to you and themes of the book; the major theses or arguments of the book; and, the theories that may be elaborated.
