2 Soil health card Soil health Card (SHC) Scheme is a Government of India’s scheme promoted by the Department of Agriculture, Co-operation & Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

3 Benefits of soil health card
1. A Soil Health Card gives soil nutrient status to each farmer for his land holding and also gives advice on fertilizers dosage and needed soil amendments that he should apply to maintain soil health in the long run. 2. Soil Health Card will be issued to all landholders every three years and this will enable to capture the pattern of soil fertility changes occurring due to nutrient uptake by plants or other natural causes. 3. This will also help to take up corrective measures on the soil nutrient deficiencies identified in soil health cards.

4 Collection of soil samples
Soil Samples are collected from fields of farmers on Grid basis-10 ha grid in rain-fed areas and 2.5 ha grid in irrigated areas. The samples details along with their location details are registered in the Application portal by the concerned officials and a unique Sample ID is generated for each soil sample. The samples are tested in the labs and the test results are entered by the respective Soil Testing Lab officials. Based on the available nutrients in the soil, the crop-wise required quantity of nutrients are calculated using Soil Testing Crop Response formula.
