Physical barriers – skin, mucus, etc. Macrophages – engulf foreign cells and particles Natural killer cells – wa-ka Histamine – causes inflammation

3 Specific Mechanisms Cell-mediated immunity – T cells provide defenses
Humoral immunity – B cells produce antibodies to provide defenses

4 T cells Killer T cells – Kill virus-infected or foreign cells
Helper T cells – Signals others to attack Memory T cells – Store info on antigen structure Suppressor T cells – inhibit helper T cells to prevent uncontrollable destruction

5 B cells Plasma cells – produce antibodies
Memory B cells – store information on antigen structure
