6 Student Learning Aims To design and deliver a business consultancy project for an external client in the private, public or third sector. To develop employability skills by working in teams for an extended period.

7 Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of the Unit, students will be able to: Work effectively in a consultancy project team, whilst developing skills in communications, reflection, creativity and conflict resolution. Build effective relationships with a client and other stakeholders. Successfully develop and manage a project and use relevant problem solving and project management methods. Critically apply business and management concepts, integrating across several business disciplines, to analyse a client's situation, research and evaluate solutions and develop practical recommendations with an outline implementation plan.

10 Key Stages - up to Christmas
Wc 23 Oct Teams allocated to projects, clients contacted by team leader Wc 30 Oct and 6 Nov. Start up meetings - ideally at Portsmouth Business School Can be at client site if nearby. Priority: no delays to start ups. After start-up meeting Induction, scoping, initial research, creation of Project Management Plan, execute the plan. Induction: eg few hours/half day - location anywhere. Teams must get client agreement on PMP/project approach. Before 15 Dec (Xmas break) Analysis/research. Teams present an interim deliverable. Teams achieve something concrete before Xmas break.

11 Key Stages - Jan to Mar 2018 Jan - Feb
Teams continue with their work. Regular progress reviews. Wc 26 Feb and 5 Mar. Each team gives final presentation to client, other stakeholders, tutor. At UoP. 1 hr 15 mins (presentation, Q&A, feedback from tutor and client on presentation skills/content) Teams submit draft final report to client for comment. Client submits comments. By 23 Mar. Teams respond to client comments, and submit final client report to tutor and client. Report is marked by tutors only 27 March 5pm. Showcase and Awards Event
