Becoming a monk or nun People who devoted their lives to God became monk and nuns. They had to promise to be poor, never marry and to be obedient. They also had to work very hard. When not working they had to pray. Many monasteries and convents were also silent – they could not speak! Watch this clip!

You’ll need to explain what people will see and why. Have interviews with monks and nuns – how do they feel about their life? Film clip to help you! Jot notes in the back of your book! Add illustrations and enhance your brochure with research about real medieval monasteries/convents!
