Layout Use simple, easy-to-read format that follows the natural flow of your eyes The natural way of reading/scanning a page is left to right, top to bottom Place most important information in the top left part of the page moving downwards For contemporary layouts, follow the patterns found in most comic books. Lay it out in a number 2 pattern or Z-pattern You may also align centered horizontally for a symmetrical look Balance the placement of text and graphics You never want your poster to feel cluttered or crowded Ask yourself, “Does every element have room to breathe?”

Text Keep text simple and to the point
Short phrases or bulleted points Add contrast with font size, style, and color Don’t use more than two typefaces (fonts) in a document Choose easy to read fonts Use text styles to differentiate sections of text Bold Italics Use color to draw attention to particular points of a message Avoid ALL CAPS
