This year’s theme: What are emerging industries and technologies that are shaping our future? Explore the technologies that are shaping our future, such as: Transportation (driverless cars) Renewable energy (windmill power) Technology (3D printing, artificial intelligence) *These are just some examples. There are many other categories that could be researched. Be creative!

Brainstorming Activity (25 points)
Theme: What are the industries and technologies that are shaping our future? Answer the following questions to get your ideas flowing: How will people communicate with family and friends? How will people commute to school and work? How will renewable energy change our daily lives? How will emerging technologies change medicine & healthcare? Are there any other emerging technologies that would change your daily life? Use your answers to begin your research. You may think of other areas to research along the way. Make sure to jot down notes and ideas along the way. Be inquisitive and look for unique emerging technologies. Look for technologies that you are interested in. *Tip: Try googling, “emerging technologies in ....(insert your subject)” **At the end of the hour you will be sharing your research with someone in the classroom.

Sketching/Initial Ideas
Sometimes it is difficult to put our thoughts into drawings. Watch the videos below to learn how employees in the art department at Google work through the creative process. Imagine Create Sharing/Collaboration
7
Sketches (25 points) Create, at least, one full page of sketches. Most of you should end up with more than one page. This is a space to record your ideas in doodle form. They can be big, small, completed with pencil, marker, etc. Sketches could be small drawings working through how to work with individual letters or practice using different materials that you are thinking of using for your final.

Final Artwork You can use the entry form as your final paper or…
You can use a piece of precut drawing paper as the final paper. This may be a better option if you are using paint for your artwork. The letters from the entry form can be traced onto the precut drawing paper as a guide, if you choose. You may use any material you would like to complete your artwork: colored pencil, markers, pastels, watercolor paints, acrylic paints, etc. Your parents must sign the entry form if you are under 18. Deadline is Thursday, December 1st…NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
