Managing your manager Recognising the MUTUAL DEPENDENCE of the relationship, between to FALLIBLE human beings Developing an understanding of your boss’s goals and pressures and his / her strengths and weaknesses What are his / her organisational and personal objectives? What pressures is he / she under, particularly from his / her own boss? What is their preferred style of working? How do they like to receive information? Do they thrive on conflict or try to minimise it? Fail to see how much their boss needs their help and co-operation to do his / her job effectively. See themselves as not very dependent on their boss, gloss over how much help, information they need from boss to do well. Ignore how boss links them to the organisation.
