Modification of KAKENHI Review Process for FY2018 call

Aboundan Area, Discipline, Research field Current System FY2017) From FY2018(Call from September 2017) Integrative review process Within all classifications, same reviewers are responsible for both document review and panel review. ※Scientific Research(s) is planning to use comment from reviewers. Reviewed in maximum 400 research fields (Reviewed in 321 research fields, especially in scientific research (C) is using 432 fields.) Review in 11 Large classifications Scientific Research(S) Review in 65 muddle classifications ・ We believe high quality proposal will be selected by multi-angle viewpoints. So, review will be conducted not only by reviewed of their field, but also by related fields. Scientific Research (S) Scientific Research (A) (B) (C) Young Scientists (A) (B) Scientific Research (A) Challenging Research New System ・Review result feed back will be improved New “two stage review process” is introduced Document review and panel review are done by same reviewers. ・Reviewer can reconsider their review result after reading other reviewers comments. ・Panel review will not be conducted F2F basis. Review in 306 small classifications ・Almost all KAKENHI categories were reviewed in above research fields ・Two stage review but document review and panel review are done by different reviewers. Scientific Research(B), (C) Young Scientists (*)Categories such as “Specially promoted area” and “Innovative area” and already using Area level review will not changed. 4
