Agenda conduct Thursday folder For local identification, CogAT, IOWA, and SRI were used for third grade; Spring 2015 MAP, IOWA, and SRI were used for fourth grade; and ACT Aspire, MAP, and SRI were used for fifth grade. We realize this places a heavy emphasis on reading, but we feel that this is appropriate because of our districtwide focus on literacy. Local criteria for the class is for one school year. If a student transfers during the school year, placement in the Academic Gifted Class at the school of transfer is not guaranteed. Also, if academic or developmental difficulties result from a local criteria student’s participation in the class, the school’s Evaluation Placement Team will consider the student’s continuation in the program for the following year. School website Schoology During June, teachers developed curriculum documents to use with the GT classes. The English/Language Arts curriculum focuses on the depth of content by providing additional emphasis on research and inquiry and increased rigor and critical thinking. The mathematics curriculum focuses on accelerating the content. In fourth grade, the math curriculum covers the fourth grade standards and the first half of the fifth grade standards. In fifth grade, the math curriculum covers the second half of the fifth grade standards and all of the sixth grade standards. Additionally, curriculum interventionists are continuing to develop specific benchmarks for the GT classes. AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT GT| Fall 2016
