A Grammar Poem

A subordinating conjunction is a word that introduces an adverb clause.

4 Grammar Poem You will write a minimum of two stanzas of five lines each. The first four lines of each stanza must begin with a word from the list of subordinating conjunctions and cannot be a complete sentence. The last line of the stanza cannot begin with a subordinator and must be a complete sentence. The first word of each line must begin with a capital letter. The first four lines are punctuated with a comma, and the last line is punctuated with a period.

5 Sample Poem Whenever I get up, After the alarm clock has gone off,
Before the sun comes up, As I stumble for the shower, I slowly get ready for my day of school. When I arrive at school, As I am talking to my friends, Before my classes begin, While I wait to do my work, I long to be back in my cozy bed.

6 Time to Create! Now write your own grammar poem.
When you are finished, have a peer edit your poem to make sure the guidelines were followed. Create a published version of your poem.
