1 Standard 1 Review: Graphs, Variables and The Scientific Method
Spiral #4 Standard 1 Review: Graphs, Variables and The Scientific Method

2 Bar Graphs Good for comparing data Specific #’s of specific things

3 Circle Graphs (Pie Charts)
Shows how parts relate to the whole. Often used for percentages. (The whole pie = 100 %)

4 Line Graphs Used to demonstrate continuous change (ex: over a period of time) A linear graph is a straight line (linear) The slope of a linear graph is constant (Y=mX + b)

5 Variables A Variable is any factors that changes
during an experiment (it varies). The variable that causes the change is called the independent variable. (I = I decide what’s being tested) The dependent variable shows the effect of changes in the independent variable. (D = Data, what is being measured or recorded)

6 Y Axis X Axis

7 Steps of the Scientific Method
1. State The Problem 2. Form a Hypothesis 3. Perform an Experiment 4. Collect and Analyze Data 5. Form A Conclusion 6. Communicate Results
