2 Warm-Up Please have out: Paper 01/10/2017 Pen/Pencil Time Tracker
Please answer the following questions in 4-5 sentences: What careers are you interested in pursuing? Why? How might college graduation be important to pursuing one of the careers mentioned above? C = Conversation Level Level 0. H = Help Raise your hand silently – no passes, A = Activity Warm up M = Movement Feet on floor, facing forward,– P = Participation Thinking/writing.

3 Tutorials: Please get into assigned tutorial groups.
Today you will be completing TAG Grade Reflections with Tutors & re-visiting Tutorial Group Norms. After 30 minutes, we will have a competition!!!!

4 TAG Grade Reflections 20 minutes Look over your Semester 1 Grades
C = Conversation Level Level 0 for reflecting; Level 2 for discussing grades & questions with tutors. H = Help Ask group, then ask me A = Activity Grade Reflections M = Movement None, you are sitting with your tutorial groups P = Participation Reviewing semester 1 grades; reflecting & goal setting based on the grades Look over your Semester 1 Grades Complete the TAG Reflection Share your areas of need with the group and how you hope tutorials can help you. 20 minutes

5 Tutorial Group Norms 10 minutes
Take out a piece of paper and title it TUTORIAL GROUP NORMS Brainstorm a list of norms that enable you to work effectively in a collaborative group setting. Share your individual list with your group. Work together to create a group list of norms on a sheet of chart paper that takes into consideration everyone’s individual thinking. Create a poster of your group’s top five norms. Sample norms: Don’t interrupt when someone is speaking; Each group member must ask student presenter at least one question. 10 minutes

6 Minute Mysteries Select a team representative
I will show a mystery to the class. Each group turns to each other and tries to solve the mystery Representative: Raise hand & share answer when you’re ready If you’re close enough to the correct solution, your team earns a point C = Conversation Level Level 0 for listening to mysteries; Level 2 for discussing solutions. H = Help Ask group, then ask me A = Activity Group Minute Mysteries M = Movement None, you are still with your groups P = Participation Listening to each other, sharing possible solutions to the mystery.

7 Minute Mystery 1 A woman lives on the 38th floor of an apartment. On rainy days (and when someone else is in the elevator) she goes all the way up, but on sunny days she goes half way up and walks the other half. Why? The woman is a midget. On rainy days she uses the umbrella to hit his floor button.

8 Minute Mystery 2 A man was born before his father, killed his mother, and married his sister. Yet those that knew him considered him normal. How come? He was born in the presence of his father. His mother died at the birth. He became a pastor and married his sister to her husband.

9 Minute Mystery 3 A woman buys coconuts at $5 a dozen and sells them at $3 a dozen. As a result of this she becomes a millionaire. How come? The woman was a philanthropist who bought coconuts to sell to poor people at prices they could afford. She started out as a billionaire, but lost so much money that she became a millionaire.

10 Minute Mystery 4 A man was trapped on an island in the middle or a large and deep lake. He could not swim and had no boat or means of making one. He waited desperately for help, but none came. Eventually, he managed to escape. How? Winter came and the lake froze over, and the man walked across.

11 Minute Mystery 5 A mountain climber in the Himalayas took along with her two mountain guides. After a few hours, one of the guides fell into a deep crevasse. The climber and the other guide continued the climb and did not raise the alarm. Why? One of the guides was a book.

2. Open internet and go to 3. Select “Explore Careers” 4. Select “Interest Profiler” 5. Complete the career interest survey 6. Read the jobs list at the end of the survey

13 Exit Instructions Below your warm up, answer the following questions: Which occupation provided by the results of the interest inventory seems the most accurate fit for you? Did any of the results surprise you? If so, which ones? What do I put WHERE? Computers in laptop cart…plugged in TAG reflections in outbox Warm-up in binder HOMEWORK : Bring your completed TRF on Thursday; you will receive a zero if it is late.
