7. This type of school, in providing of services which are asked and popular these days, is known all over the Europe.  
The idea of its establishment was to supply qualified graduates for the region’s developing tourism, gastronomy, and travel industry.
The students are prepared for management and operation activities in the hotel and catering establishments, as well as separate business.

9. “HISTORIA CIVITATIS SOLNA”
HISTORY
Our Hotel Academy belongs to the youngest secondary schools in our city Žilina but its history goes back to 1856, as it is mentioned in
“HISTORIA CIVITATIS SOLNA”
a historical paper witten in Latin. This paper was translated into Slovak by Alexander Lombardini under the title
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FREE CITY, ŽILINA This script mentions that there was an industrial-vocational school, one of the oldest in Slovakia. The language of instruction in this school was Slovak and it was managed by Móric KROPÁČI.

10. Vocational schooling had been developing proportionally with the development of crafts in the city and its surroundings. A Craftsmen’s House was constructed in 1910 in order to facilitate better mutual contacts. After the World War II, the Craftsmen’s House became the seat of a vocational school. It had 40 classes in 1960, so it had to be split. It was devided into two parts and one of them continued in services, catering, and trade.

12. PRESENT
Our school is proud of the long term history in educating in gastronomy and hotel management.
School graduates are ready to move successfully in the market environment in the catering, tourism, economy, and business or pursue higher education.
The school has got specialized classrooms for teaching foreign languages, catering, technology of food preparation, practise, typing, accounting and information technologies.
It has the Internet access and special classrooms for information and communication technologies. Students are able to speak 2 – 3 foreign languages during their study (German, English, French, Spanish and Russian) on the level to communicate with foreigners fluently.

13. The school has been keeping cooperation with professional associations, organizations, and universities, the links with several similar partner schools and other qualified places for work experience abroad, participating in many European projects .
A typical feature of the school is its high level of professionalism. It is proven every year by top awards and appreciates for our students from various national and international competitions our students regularly participate at. Since our students have successfuly been presenting their knowledge and skills in Austria (Salzburg), Germany (Bremes), Italy (Calabria), France (Tolouse), and Greece.
