3 SUPPORTING DETAILS Major (Primary) Details: give information about the Topic Sentence Minor (Secondary) Details: give information about the Major Details

4 SUPPORTING DETAILS Topic Sentence: Among their many tasks, executive chefs are responsible for ordering food. Major Detail: Executive chefs must estimate how much food to order. Minor Detail: If they order too much food, it will spoil, but if they order too little, the restaurant cannot meet its clients’ needs.

5 SUPPORTING DETAILS Topic Sentence: A resort hotel offers more than rooms; it offers activities such as golf, swimming, tennis, and skiing. Major Detail: Some resort hotels have package deals for skiers. Minor Detail: Guests can get a ski ticket and a hotel room for less than the cost of each one separately.
