An important yearly meeting with student, parent, and school counselor to go over academics, attendance, social, emotional and personal matters.

Middle School Completion 7th and 8th Grade Classes
Middle School is the time to start exploring the subjects you are interested in and what you are passionate about. Continually strive for doing the best on your assignments, no matter the subject. This the time you start to learn information that you need to know for future classes in high school and college and careers. Double check that you are on track for completing all the requirements for middle school during 7th and 8th grade. 15 Credits is the total need 7th and 8th Grade completion Subjects 7th Grade 8th Grade English 1.0 Math Science Social Studies 0.5 P.E Health X CTE Art Class Electives 2.0

High School Graduation Requirements 9th Grade to 12th Grade
Subject Required Credits English 4 Math 3 Science Two of the following areas: Earth Biological Chemical Physics Social Studies 1.0 World Studies (9) (0.5 Geo/0.5 World Civ.) 1.0 U.S. History (10) 0.5 Elective (11) 0.5 Citizenship &Gov. (12) Fine Arts 1.5 Career/Technical Ed. 1 Computer Technology 0.5 Financial Lit. (12) Health (10) Movement and Fitness (PE) 0.5 Skills/Technique (9) 0.5 Fitness for Life (10) 0.5 Individualized Act. Electives 9.5 Total 28 In order to receive a high school graduation certificate you have to take specific classes. There is also some room for elective classes. This is a time to really start noticing the classes that are interesting to you and figuring what you want to do with your future along with future classes in college. The grades you receive starting in 9th grade are are sent to the different colleges to help show your academic endeavors. Colleges recommend taking certain classes in addition to these required classes Language: 2 or more Years Math: All 4 Years Science: 3 to 4 Years

Skyward Parents and students, if you have not logged in to Skyward yet, please notify us today. Skyward is a program that you can check current grades and click on links to print out missing assignments It has a calendar that notifies you of upcoming assignments It also can send a weekly making you aware of missing assignments This is also the place you can electronically change student and family information that is important for the school to contact you.

Great Programs to Sign Up for Now
Utah Futures Utah Futures is an excellent program that will allow you to take fun quizzes about yourself, explore your future choices, and get to know colleges, and scholarships. Utah Scholars/ Regent Scholarship This is a great program by the Utah Legislature that helps support students in working hard in school. Please look at the specifics to qualify. This starts 9th Grade, prepare now.

What happens if I get an Failing Grade
DO THIS VERY FIRST: Talk with the teacher to find out how to make it up Follow through and complete any major projects, assignments, or exams as quickly as possible following that term This can change to passing grade Notify the school counselor Speak to your counselor if there are more questions or concerns

Tips for Improving Study Skills
Get Organized: Don’t rely on your memory Write down assignments and due dates in your planner at the end of each period Keep a second copy of completed assignments Manage Your Time: Allow plenty of time to complete assignments Have a set time for homework Write a schedule for homework, studying and other activities Look ahead in your planner often. Manage Your Space Organize your locker Keep a list of what to bring home in your locker Clean out your locker, backpack, and binder once a week
