This is part three in a series! I know you are enjoying practicing your inferencing skills through the use of comics! Here are some winter comics for you to enjoy! Happy Holidays!

accumulated a few winter/holiday comics that also lend themselves
to inferencing. This is a brief compilation of them. Enjoy!

PowerPoint Suggestions:
1. Read the comic aloud. Some kids may not be in the habit of reading
comics frame by frame.
2. The questions are suggestions/samples. There are numerous other
possibilities.
3. Because this is the first time that some students may be exposed to Garfield
comics, they may have some difficulty identifying the underlying humor.
4. Enjoy! Please let me know if you find these helpful, and I will design
additional presentations.

4. Sample Discussion Questions:
What is the problem in this comic?
Who do you think the snowman is talking to?
What could the snowman do to solve his problem (other than
calling someone for help)?

5. Sample Discussion Questions:
What is a GPS?
Why would Santa need a GPS?
Where do you think Santa got the GPS?
What might Garfield be saying to you if he was speaking in frame 3?
How could Santa figure out who sent him the GPS?

6. Billy Sample Discussion Questions:
Billy is speaking in this comic. What did he “lose?”
What is actually happening to Billy’s snowflakes?
What might Billy be able to do to keep the snowflakes in his hand?
What do you think the dog might be thinking?

7. Sample Discussion Questions:
There are several unusual (odd) happenings in this comic. What do you notice?
Why is the rabbit pointing a blow dryer at the snowman?
What is the rabbit’s ultimate goal?
How is the female snowman feeling? Why?
Describe the male snowman’s personality based on his response to the circumstances
and his facial expression.
How would you describe the rabbit in three words?
