Cat-scratch disease This disease is characterized by the appearance of a papule or pustule at the site of a scratch from a cat. Within several weeks, enlarged regional lymph nodes (Fig. 3-34) develop and become tender and fluctuant. Cat-scratch disease is accompanied by fever and malaise in about one-third of cases.
