Lens (Definition) In any sort of camera, you can magnify a scene by increasing the focal length of the lens. All cameras, can zoom in and the image gets bigger. An optical zoom lens is a single lens unit that lets you change this focal length. An optical zoom lens is one lens that allows you to zoom in. A zoom range tells you the maximum and minimum magnification. A zoom range shows the most and least magnification.
