8 Philosophy Philosophy have a crucial role in schools’ improvement and it is significant to understand the goals of the schools.

14 Curriculum Design The curriculum is a spiral curriculum because it allowed students and teachers to revisit the social studies content at the different levels of development throughout the year.

15 The students have the opportunity to revisit the basic ideas repeatedly and building upon them as the year progresses and until they grasped the full concept.

16 The community and the world:
The students begin the first- six week period with their community and places they know and expand their knowledge with each successive six-week-period, eventually encompassing the community, the state and the nation.

17 The assessment part builds on previous knowledge.
For example, the first six-week students complete map, interviews, graphic organizers, etc. but by the end of the fifth-six-week period, the students must write full essays with accurate information, research, analyze definitions, etc.

18 The instruction calls for a multisensory approach where students are seeing (library and internet), saying and hearing (perform readers theatre), and manipulating materials during learning time (hands on activities and projects).

19 This document covers those subjects; it indicates all the content of the curriculum and it serves a road map for teachers to present material, but it also shows parents and students what being taught and what the students should master by the end of the each of the six-week period.

22 ACCURACY OF CONTENT Teachers: - Present current, credible information from legitimate sources. - Don't represent your opinion as fact. - Transfer information accurately to worksheets, graphs and assignments. - Teach students how to use resources and about the importance of accuracy, whether from books or the internet.

23 Students: - Should be taught how to determine if information is from credible, research-based websites. - Should learn to back up their work and verify from reliable sources. - Should be taught the importance of accuracy in transferring information, including punctuation and spelling.
