Computer Networks - Introduction - Dr. Hussein al-Bahadili
Data Communications Data communications are the exchange of data between two devices via some form of transmission medium such as a wire cable. The effectiveness of data communications systems depends on four fundamental characteristics: Delivery Accuracy Timeliness Jitter Computer Networks - Introduction - Dr. Hussein al-Bahadili

Data Communications Delivery: The system must deliver data to the correct destination, i.e., data must be received by the intended device and only by that device. Accuracy: The system must deliver the data accurately. Timeliness: The system must deliver data in a timely manner. Data must be delivered in the same order that they are produced, and without significant delay, such as multimedia data. This is called real-time transmission. Jitter: It refers to the variation in the packet arrival time. Computer Networks - Introduction - Dr. Hussein al-Bahadili
